The Forgotten Potato

I was lamenting how I would contend with rain and darkness to photograph something somebody had forgotten for today's theme. I had essentially given up and I decided to clean up/clear out the accumulated debris from doing a couple of years of still lifes.

Under the mass of rubbish was a peanut can and inside the greasy can I found a potato eeking out life in the darkness. I had last seen this potato on April 1, 2017 when I photographed it. I had dropped it into the can after I was done and moved it to the side. Over time the can became engulfed in the flotsam of regular still life shooting.

Yet the spud was determined to live. In darkness. without light. Through the bitter cold of the studio in winter. Forgotten. I was amazed at the spunky spud.

So after I photographed it one more time, I put it in a clay pot with topsoil. and I placed it in the window to greet the morning sun. To be continued........
