“Nunc est bibendum” (“Now is the time for drinking”), is one of the most famous of the odes of the Roman lyric poet Horace, published in 23 BCE. Horace consciously translated the short lyric of the Greek poet Alcaeus : νῦν χρῆ μεθύσθην (Nyn chrê methysthēn).
