The Wehrmacht bridge

During the German occupation of Northern Italy, the Wehrmacht sapper built this bridge over a deep river gorge : an unmistakable wartime ugliness. After the war, the Italians, striken down and moneyless, did'nt have the means to tear it down and build a new one. However, 77 years passed, the squalid bridge is still there, in the countryside, habitually crossed by large truks.
