Jangada
My summer vacation in Flexeiras - Ceará, Brazil
Flexeiras is a fishing village on the northeastern coast of Ceará, Brazil. It has about 1200 permanent residents.
The Jangada, a traditional fishing boat made of wood, is the most typical sailing vessel of Brazil. This fishing boat is considered one of the worlds most gracious and at the same time most primitive sailing vessels. The jangada is still in use by artisanal fishermen in many coastal communities in the northeastern region of Brazil. It can be found in the states of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte.
