Garden Green
Every morning, after breakfast, we all traipse out to the garden to play. Mom weeds, Dad waters the lawn, Daughter plays in the dirt. I like to ponder on all the thousands of generations of families that have been doing exactly the same thing and desire for thousands more to do it after me.
Now, finally!, an article in a major news medium about doing it for yourself. I get so angry at all the reports about rising prices, lower crop yields, and growing diseases that would be mostly alleviated if we all went back to growing at least some of our own food. No, it's not an overnight solution. Yes, I am grateful for our technilogical advances that make it possible for me to have bananas or pepper (or salt!). But, again, in the midst of progress we have forgotten to pay heed to the past and are reaping problems that we needn't.
