285 at Harvey Nichols

The first Scottish store of Harvey Nichols group opened in 2002. The five storey store is situated on the east side of St. Andrew's Square (behind the bus here) with far reaching views over the city of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth. The restaurant on the top floor is a fine place to dine in eloquent surroundings and a varied menu is on offer at a competitive price - a white table cloth is guaranteed.

Harvey Nichols is a luxury lifestyle store, renowned both in the UK and Internationally for the breadth and depth of its exclusive fashion merchandise. It offers many of the world's most prestigious brands in womenswear, menswear, accessories, beauty, food and home. It currently has stores in London, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Leeds in the UK, Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, a store in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in Hong Kong, China, in Dubai, UAE, Istanbul, Turkey and a further store in Jakarta, Indonesia. The London flagship store is located in the heart of Knightsbridge, London's most fashionable and exclusive shopping district.

I love going to this shop as it is just the MOST in style. If you walk down Bond Street and Jermyn Street in London you will be graced

by shop after shop with the most tempting of styles in shirts, ties, socks and trousers, and their cufflinks are sublime - I could spend a fortune!

Edinburgh has one such shop and it's called Harvey Nichols. I adore their shoes and have recently bought two pairs which are simply marvellous to wear. My dear granny (Letitia Turner Montgomery) might have said that having a department store like Harvey Nichols just shows that Edinburgh is such a class city to live in. She had such an elite way with words!

Here's something else that demonstrates Edinburgh's classic look - Royale fleet number 285 looking splendid at St. Andrew's Square heading out to the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston. The buildings on all four sides of this square are exemplary of the great Georgian style so evident in Edinburgh in the early 1800's.
