Class 142's have been in service since 1985/7 and are due for withdrawal by 2020.
The Class 142 Pacer units with their atrocious noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and general ambience levels do nothing to enhance the image of the railways in this area in my opinion.
Darlington Station is a Grade II* listed building which opened on July 1st 1887 but of course there has been a railway in the town since 1825.
