Pennsylvania and Ohio Slideshow

by string_bass_dave

Sally and I vacationed last May in Eastern Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh to Altoona) and Ohio (southern Ohio - especially Cincinnati). We began and ended our trip in Pittsburgh - which we thoroughly enjoyed. We took in a Pirates game there among other activities. While in Pennsylvania we took side trips to see Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece "Fallingwater" and made a sojourn to see Johnstown (where the disastrous flood of 1889 took place) and then on to the heart of the former Pennsylvania Railroad empire including the famous Horseshoe Curve and Altoona and Tyrone.

We then dashed to the south and west through West Virginia to meet some friends in Cincinnati, Ohio and enjoy the magnificent Art Deco architecture there as well as -- yes, more trains. Finally, back along the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky and eastern Ohio back to Pittsburgh for our final couple of days and our flight back home.

We thoroughly enjoyed the cities, the countryside, the amazing dogwoods and redbuds in blossom, and a glimpse into some history of the region - some of which is being maintained and some not-so-much. I hope you enjoy my little slideshow and some of the comments I've included with the images.
