Dead End

900-year-old former trees in the Deadvlei clay pan tree graveyard in the Namib-Naukluft Park and near Sossusvlei, Namibia. The climate is so dry here that the trees, dead at least 600 years, do not decompose.

 

The famous Big Daddy Dune looms in the background with winded hikers included for scale (the dune rises over 1000 feet from the desert floor).
