Strike the Spike

Three days after the massive Golden Spike Sesquicentenial celebration at the Golden Spike National Historic Site in Promontory Utah workers are taking down all of the temporary infrastructure. The tie commemorating the location of the Golden Spike is on the track near the center of the image -- the slightly smaller, very smooth and finighed railroad tie.
