Iron and Steam

Steam shovel at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. Operating as a producer of pig iron from 1882 to 1971, Sloss Furnaces is now a National Historic Landmark.

 

I like the large gear at the top of the tracks just below the main housing that allows the shovel to pivot relative to its tracks.
