Detroit, Michigan (USA) - Beyond the broken glass

The sun sets beyond the broken glass of abandoned Fisher Body plant 21 - Detroit, Michigan (USA)

Detroit experienced its own economic crisis in the mid 90s, as the US economy shifted from heavy industry to IT and services. A heavy blow for a city whose prosperity relied quasi-exclusively on the auto industry (witness be the "Ford Hospital" and "Chrystler school", entirely financed by the companies). Almost overnight, thousands of jobs disappeared. Auto and auto parts plants closed, left to rot in the middle of the city.

Today, only their carcasses remain, becoming the playground of many urban explorers and urban decay photographers. The idea might seem strange to many, but there is an undeniable beauty and grandeur in catching a sunset through the broken glass of a broken plant, right in the broken heart of a broken city.
