Huntsman

Being a hunter in Bavaria, Germany he's taking care of the wildlife in his district. So it's not only the classical hunting which one associates with a hunter but also e.g. feeding the wildlife during winter time. In order to become a hunter in Germany one has to take theoretical and practical courses summing up to at least 120 hours. Followed by three tests of a governmental administration office. Only after passing those tests successfully a hunter is allowed to buy and carry a weapon for hunting (limited to his district only).

The shot was taken about 1 hour before sunset in a light forest under birches and oak trees. Camera right was a selft built beauty dish with a full CTO on the speedlight (at about 1/6). In order to separate from the background another speedlight at about 1/16 zoomed to 70mm with 1/2 CTO was placed left, hidden behind the tree. To compress the view a little I zoomed to around 80mm or so having the camera in manual mode at ISO 320, 1/30s, f8.

As my lens only starts to become sharp at f6.3 I decided for f8 which also causes the background trees lit by the setting sun to become more prominent. As my EOS 50D doesn't like too high ISO values, I went for ISO 320 with 1/30s giving me a nice ambient.
