Joey, at the new clinic.

Unlike at the Yee Veterinary Clinic, Joey felt more relaxed here with the new vet, Dr Nur Aishah.

She checked for enlarged, painful organs which Joey had been suffering from two days earlier and thankfully there was none.

He didn't have a fever either. I didn't ask her to take a blood sample as it had been done at Yee Veterinary Clinic the previous week and his Creatinine count was as I had already expected, "very high".

As the SS 14 Animal Clinic was sparsely equipped, Dr Aishah couldn't do much for Joey except to get him to take oral multivitamins and palliative care food (Hill's A/D Restorative Care).

It was here where I made arrangements with the vet for a final house visit, should that time come.

From my personal experience with vets in Malaysia, there are very few really good ones. Yee Veterinary Clinic may have in house blood testing equipment and several vet techs, but their charges have become exorbitant. I had spent considerable sums of money with that vet since last year.

Why did I bring Joey here then?

I wanted a professional second opinion whether Joey still has some quality of life in him and whether he is suffering any kind of physical pain. If the vet feels that it's time, I would reluctantly put him to sleep. 😿

Update:

After Joey's follow up visit to this vet, I have decided not to use her services any longer. It turned out that she does not have the professional experience she portrayed and is still on the learning curve, like a veterinary intern.

Joey is now seen by the same vet at the Gasing Veterinary Hospital who originally treated him for his testicular abscess back in 2012.
