American Hero

On Friday, November 18, 2016, the “Patriot Guard Riders”passed by St. James, Missouri escorting the body of United States Army Corporal Donald E. Matney, of Seymour, Missouri, to his final destination. This hero is returning to his beloved country for the first time since 1950. Corporal Matney died in action during the Korean War on July 20, 1950. Corporal Matney’s body was not located and he was reported Missing in Action. In March 1951, unidentified remains were recovered by a local resident in Taejon. The remains were moved to the United Nations Military Cemetery in Tanggok, South Korea where they remained unidentified until May 2016. Corporal Donald E. Matney served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army and made the ultimate sacrifice on 20 July 1950 as a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division near the town of Taejon, South Korea. Law Enforcement along with EMS and Fire personnel was near the I-44 Over pass showing our respect for this American Hero as he is brought home to his final resting place. On November 19, 2016 I was able to attend the funeral of American hero in Seymour,MO today. The whole town was there almost. Such amazing service. This picture said so much. He fought in the Korean War and was MIA. He died over there and they found his remains. Rest In Peace soldier.
