I can almost Smell the North Sea now...

I must have passed by the city of Antwerp, the capital of the municipality of Antwerp already. My GPS said so. Must have slept. The train slowed down at this point. Got enough time to take some shots. Its one of those times that you're half awake, that somehow you thought you were dreaming -- and would later confirm that you're not because the photo is in your camera.

 

This place is Kalmthout, a municipality in the province of Antwerp. In Dutch, the province is called Antwerpen and Anvers in French. This is a relatively quiet municipality with less than 300 people per square kilometer. Well, Belgium is a small country with a relatively low population density. But never underestimate what this country have had. Its one of the founding countries of the European Union, and the EU has its headquarters in Belgium. And don't forget NATO -- the headquarters is also in Belgium. NATO - is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which includes the United States armed forces -- formed back in the days of the Cold War as an opposing force of the Soviet Union's Warsaw Pact.

 

In a few minutes, the train will cross Belgium's northern Border, and into Roosendal the first city north of the border crossing -- one of the southern cities of the Netherlands. Netherlands is a country that is as popular as the mystical North Sea -- its boundary to the west.
