navajo bridge - arizona
The Navajo Bridge carries Highway 89A across the Colorado River's Marble Canyon in North central Arizona
More than you probably want to know:
The Navajo Bridge is about 10 miles down river from Horseshoe Bend and Page, AZ. It's really two bridges built at different times. The bridge on the left opened in 1929 and is currently only used for foot traffic and the occasional horseback rider - walking across the old bridge you get a great view of the canyon and the Colorado River 467 feet (142m) below. The bridge on the right opened in 1995 and is used for vehicle traffic - it was made wider and stronger to support modern traffic.
This 3 shot panoramic was taken from the North side of the river looking South. You can see the Echo Cliff mountain range getting rain off in the distance.
