2025-11-07 (03) Dali. The Three Pagodas (9th-10th centuries) & Cangshan Mountain

the 3 pagodas, standing 1.5 km north of Dali Old Town, are arranged on the corners of an equilateral triangle. The central 16-tiered "Qianxun" pagoda, the highest (69,6 meters) and most ancient (built during the Nanzhao kingdom in the 9th century) of the 3, is aligned with 7 other buildings of the Chongsheng Temple complex, climbing up the slope of Cangshan Mountain within a grand ensemble of landscaped gardens, stairways and pools dating from the same times, but restored since.
