My Wanaka Tree
Lake Wanaka in New Zealand is famous for one very particular tree... So here's a picture of different one smile emoticon
I took this shot on our trip last year. We based ourselves in Wanaka for a few days and had been out being tourists on this day. The weather became grotty late on and we had given up the idea of taking any sunset photos, so we meandered back to town in the rain to find somewhere to have dinner.
Just as we pulled into town and hit the main street, this incredible pink glow burst through a gap in the clouds and illuminated the sky.
So we quickly pulled off the road and scrambled (in the rain) to find any semblance of a composition, before squeezing off a couple of shots during the back-end of the sky-show. Then moments later the skies were dark and grey again.
Definitely a big case of "photographers panic" and probably the shortest photoshoot I've ever done.
I'm not 100% happy with the composition of my shot, but looking back now at least it's a nice reminder of the incredible sky we briefly witnessed.
Cheers
Steve
