Rainbow over the 'Big Puddle'

On the Erewhon Road (from Mt Somers via Lake Clearwater to Erewhon) there's a periodic tarn locally just dubbed 'the big puddle'. It usually has some water in it but in very dry seasons dries up completely. The Ashburton Lakes area is renowned for this "kettlehole" landscape with unique plants that can survive not only extreme heat and cold but also periodic inundation.
