Otukaikino Wetlands Christchurch New Zealand

One of my favourite bird photography spots. Although very small, this little wetland is a great example of what people can do to restore nature. Operated on a partnership between the Department of Conservation and a local funeral director the wetlands are being restored and trees are planted for each funeral. More than that, the company helps DOC with the maintenance and planting of the site. It now features a lot of native plants a a large number of forest, scrubland and wetland bird and insect and reptile species.
