the narrow strip of land separating the Hari Hari coast from the Wanganui River estuary and wetlands. These ancient alluvial flats are the outflow of glaciers from the last ice age. The view (looking south) is taken from atop the Doughboy, a huge mound of glacial moraine that dominates this otherwise flat estuarine landscape
