Te Wharangi - the skyline walk- Wellington NZ

One of the best things about Wellington is the many greatwalks right on the edge of the city. Wellington is envelopedin steep hills, the ridgelines of which make great pathways to traverse the boundaries of the city. The Skyline walkway followsthe south west and western border of the city offering wonderul views over Wellington and across the harbour (east) and south and west across the Makara hills toward Cook Strait and the South Island. The Maori name for this walkway, which was a route from place to place for them long before European settlement, was Te Wharrangi, which means broad, open space. A perfect description.
