Eurasian blackbird Turdus merula Linnaeus

There are several blackbird families in our garden with overlapping territories. For much of the year they coexist happily but at courting time the males get very stroppy and have fights on our lawn. The females are much bolder than the males and follow me around the garden getting really close if I am digging or weeding.
