Alpine tarn, Mt Sunday, Hakatere Conservation Park, New Zealand
Mount Sunday is a "roche moutonnée" formation in the upper Rangitata River valley opposite Mt Potts in the Hakatere Conservation park.
Standing abruptly out of the surrounding flat riverbed, this piece of hard bedrock survived the last iceage but was shaped by it. The rocks show the distinct marks of the passing glacier.
This distinct hill was the site for the Edoras Village set for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
