Queen Elizabeth. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Our Queen Elizabeth rose in bloom and posted in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who sadly passed away on Thursday 09/08/22
May she rest in peace and be reunited with her beloved Prince Phillip.❤️. The Queen Elizabeth rose is indeed fit for a queen, so it is no surprise to learn it was specifically developed for one. In 1954 Dr. Walter Lammerts, an American, cultivated the Queen Elizabeth rose in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation.
The Queen Elizabeth is a cross between the ‘Charlotte Armstrong’, and a Floribunda, the ‘Floradora.’ Resultantly, the Grandiflora Queen Elizabeth has long stems reminiscent of a hybrid tea but can also have multiple blooms like a Floribunda. The Queen Elizabeth is considered the first real grandiflora rose.
