by Varker Images

Air Day is the only day of the year when the public can step into the world of Culdrose and experience the sights and sounds of a working military Naval Air Station.

One of Europe’s largest helicopter bases, it's primary objective is to deliver trained and capable Naval Air Squadrons specialising in Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare and Airborne Surveillance and Control to undertake operations anywhere in the world.
As well as Front Line and training squadrons, Culdrose is also home to 771 Squadron,‘Search and Rescue’ (SAR) squadron, which is on constant standby 365 days a year ready to react to emergencies throughout the Southwest region. It’s likely that you have seen their red and grey helicopters braving all types of weather responding to calls for help on land and sea.
