Wheal Trewavas

In the early 1840's the mine employed around 200 people. It was open for only about a decade when it closed for reasons of financial irregularities, possibly paying dividends from the Bank overdraft. Whilst Wheal Trewavas was in operation it produced over £100,000 worth of copper ore.

Note the mine opening in front of the window with a near vertical drop for hundreds of feet.
