Joshua Tree, Oct 2008

by wanderunghike

As an extension of a San Diego work trip I went to Joshua Tree National Park with Su-Laine.

The park was amazing, we camped in the North West corner. The and the access to all trailheads was so easy which made the trip a dream, especially because we rarely saw other hikers.

This area is actually where 2 different types of desert meet. The higher, moister, and slightly cooler Mojave Desert is the special habitat of the Joshua tree. Sadly, it is expected to go extinct.

Make sure you see this area soon. I suggest 3 days for the actual park to see more than just an overview. That being said, we did a good percentage of the trails in less time.
