Canadian Pacific Airlines DC-3 Wind Vane
In the Yukon the official tourism slogan is "Larger than Life". On Day 10 of our epic BC - Yukon road trip we picked up our son at the Whitehorse airport, where we were greeted by this beautifully restored DC-3 aircraft.
The Yukon Flying Club devised a plan to restore a DC-3 aircraft, CF-CPY, to her original 1950s vintage Canadian Pacific Airlines colours. They also had to figure out how to safely mount her to a base. A local welder conceived the idea to have CPY pivot on her pedestal, working with the inevitable Whitehorse wind rather than against it.
