And then, on a moon-lit night, Antonio's mother, in her excitement at seeing the arrest of the notorious umbrella snatcher, Guarda-Chuva, poked herself in the eye, and died from the shock. She was his rock, his map: he clung to her every word (because he couldn't understand his father). And now she was gone! Antonio fell into the abyss. After the tragedy subsided Antonio vowed to join the cavalry, to never raise children (neither the boy nor the girl kind) and to take up the noble pursuit of reading with the aim of encouraging the spread of good taste. Huzzah!
