This photo of the Vernal Fall and its mist-induced rainbow was taken the day before 3 careless hikers plunged to their death over this fall. This fall and its upstream brother, Nevada Fall are spectacularly powerful both to the eye and to the ear but it is not something man can bend to his will. Passing guard rails for a "better look" or a "better picture" is foolish as has been tragically illustrated too many times.
