New shots of NYC with new Canon G9
I wanted a small camera to carry around more than I do my 40D (which I love but can't bring everywhere). After a lot of research and angst, I finally chose the G9 (over the Elph 950 mostly which had the appeal of being even smaller, but no manual control, RAW, etc.)
I've just started using it, but so far I'm very happy with the choice. These are mid-res JPGs with minor tweaking in LightRoom (I hadn't figured out that I wasn't shooting RAW until after this set so my next ones will be in RAW).
Exposure latitude and dynamic range don't compete with DSLR, but I'm still very pleased as much as I miss the manual zoom on my Konica-Minolta Dimage A2, this is definitely a great small camera. Now if they could just make one that accepted CF cards and had a good 28mm equiv focal length like the A2... (and continuous zoom instead of fixed increments, but that's too much to ask of any electronic zoom today).
