Health food makes me sick. (Explore)

Spinach Enchiladas...with freshly-prepared chunky salsa and blue corn tortilla chips. In case you're wondering, yes—I found something wrong with the first two servings that we tried to shoot. *chomp* Next! :)~

I've been asked quite a few questions, so I'm going to try to answer a few in the coming weeks. :)

What software do you use?

As stated in my EXIF data, I use Lightroom 3 exclusively—which I regard as the best for viewing, editing & managing digital photos (and I've used Aperture, ACR, etc.).

No Photoshop?

No, not at all. Even my watermark is added as an export preset in LR.

Why?

I choose not to use any image-editing software like PS, Picnik, Picasa, Gimp, etc. for two reasons:

1) It forces me to be a better photographer. Meaning, I try to capture virtually everything in-camera: mood, light, framing, and color...but most importantly—the true reality of the moment or subject.

2) And because I strive to be a realist with my photography, this means no cloning, textures or overlays (but I love photos where so many talented folks use them beautifully) and very minimal cropping...which is why I always shoot in either square, 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio...never an odd crop.

By adhering to these two beliefs, there's no reason for me to ever leave Lightroom. When processing a RAW file, I'm able to adjust colors, tonality, clarity and light (sometimes I'll spend as much time processing a photo as I did setting up & shooting it). But again, ultimately my goal is to remain loyal to the actual scene—not alter it...thus allowing it to resonate with authenticity. And with any luck, that sense of realism will help transport the viewer to the actual place & time that I'm sharing.

Hope this helps! :)
