Approaching Rim Rocker Trail
This is where I camped for the night before attempting to drive a segment of the Rim Rocker Trail. It is about 39 miles southeast of the town called Moab in Utah. The portion of the trail that I tackled was rather challenging... and at one point I smashed the armor plating beneath my overlanding truck while traversing a dry, boulder-strewn river bed. (I later leaned that when the underplating got damaged, it protected the transfer case (beneath the engine) but split the transfer case shield in two. So, the armor plating did its job and I was able to make it back out and travel thousands of miles after that... wondering what the rattling sound was.
Moab is a mecca for off-roaders. The little town was clogged with every type of off-road vehicle imaginable... many being pulled on trailers. After spending weeks in solitude while overlanding in deserts and forests, it was a surprise to see how much of a tourist trap that town actually is.
