The Danger That Lurks Beneath
This beautiful lake on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College in Charlotte County has a sidewalk that winds around its perimeter with beautiful trees and a number of exercise stations... but don't be entirely beguild by its beauty! There are also signs that warn of the danger of alligators.
Of course, alligators can appear any body of water in southwestern Florida. I wondered if the campus was making efforts to remove alligators and keep them at bay. Perhaps there actually weren't any alligators in this lake but the campus administration was obligated to post signs in case one (or more) migrated to the lake...? Then again, maybe they were lurking in the brush or beneath the water's surface.
When my granddaughter and I walked around this lake in late May, we didn't see any. That doesn't mean that there weren't any there... it is just that we just didn't see any. Neither one of us was willing to wander along the edge of the water to see if one would surface, either! :D
Incidentally, the wake at the far end of the lake was caused by a couple of ducks. (Do alligtors eat ducks?)
