A Glimpse Into the Past

These tourists disregarded the signs asking people not to enter the castle or climb on its walls. After this picture was taken, they made their way into the interior and posed for pictures (they were not posing for me).

At the beginning of the 1900s, Snyder, who was a prominent Kansas City businessman, began construction of a magnificent European-style mansion or "castle." More than 15 miles of trails wind through the Ha Ha Tonka State Park, which has sinkholes, natural bridges, caves and an arm of the lake. The beautiful Lake of the Ozarks has over 1,000 miles of shoreline and attracts visitors from around the world.
