OSM Scotland "Age of the Map"
Animation showing the timeline of OpenStreetMap edits in Scotland.
Note: doesn't show ALL edits, it just uses the last-modified date of each node. So it really shows how old each part of the map is. But it should be a fairly good representation of how the map has developed and grown over time.
This is a low-quality preview (ffmpeg quality level 25) in order to keep upload size manageable.
Created using Python/Sqlite to create the database, a Processing sketch to spit out the PNG stills for each frame, and ffmpeg to create the final video.
