World's Rarest Goose
The NeNe is exclusively found in Hawaii and the decendents of a single pair of Canadian geese that were blown off course and landed on the new island of Hawaii nearly 500,000 years ago.
With a population of just 30 birds in 1952, a successful breeding program was intiated and now 800 birds live in the wild.
