Addiction Setup
Bringing back an old well used setup to try it with a new twist, more of which in a moment.
The basics are tried and tested, a raised base of glass painted black on the underside, to give the reflective surface.
Under this, an 11W CFL lamp in a Pringles tube snoot, pointing to a yellow card backdrop, giving the graduation from light in the centre, falling away toward the edges.
To the sides, diffusion screens with 20W CFL lamps in Pringles Tubes reflectors behind them.
Normally I would have left it like this, but I wanted to see what kind of reflections I would get on the the black glossy surfaces, using a ring flash on the camera lens.
Have to say it worked a lot better than I was expecting, the curvature on the mug in particular, elongating the circular higlight into a very narrow oval and it did a great job of illuminating the labels.
Not to everybodies tastes I'm sure, but I quite like it :)
The result can be seen below.
