The Milky Way rises near Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, California. Mount Tamalpais is often considered symbolic of Marin County. Much of Mount Tamalpais is protected within public lands such as Mount Tamalpais State Park, the Marin Municipal Water District watershed, and National Park Service land, such as Muir Woods. Pride of Madeira is an evergreen sub-shrub native to the island of Madeira Portugal, near Morocco. The beautiful yet tough plants are able to tolerate drought, rocky soil, & coastal conditions. The flowers are very ornamental, blooming on huge 2' long spikes. The flowers are blue with red stamens, which gives it a fuzzy blue-violet look. Pride of Madeira’s flowers produce large amounts of nectar for bees including honey bees, & butterflies.
