Common lizard

Three shots taken at the gate as I was leaving Yarty Moor SWT reserve on Saturday. The lizard was basking on the gatepost, and seemed totally unconcerned by my presence. While watching him for a few minutes, I spotted a Volucella zonaria - Britain's largest hoverfly at 20 mm long and bulky with it - on the bramble next to the gate.
