20 of 365, Green Woodpecker ‘Picus viridis’
This photograph was taken in my garden through a glass window so is not as sharp as I would like. Never-the-less, it was a treat to see this adult male Green Woodpecker keep coming and going today after he dug a hole in the snow (see previous picture) to get to the grass below. I don’t know what for exactly as I never saw him fly off with any food and sometimes he just sat in the hole having a look round, but I guess it was food he was after. If anyone knows for sure I am interested to hear?
