Let There Be Light
Ruby Peak, Kebler Pass, Crested Butte, CO
As the day wound down, and sunset crept closer, I chose to shoot Ruby Peak. I set up my tripod at the Cliff Creek Trailhead about an hour before sunset and waited for something to happen. As I was waiting, I was checking my memory card, to see how much room I had left on the card. As I was checking, I made an awful mistake, and accidentally formatted the card and lost my 3 hours of hard work in the rain and cold. I was devastated as I stood there shivering with cold, wet feet. I left the camera set up and went to sit in the car for a bit. After I did that, I wanted to just go down to town, get dinner, and even possibly head home. My fiancé convinced me to stick it out until sunset to see if anything would happen. Sure enough, after waiting about 40 minutes or so, the light came, and it was a beauty! For the last 20 minutes of daylight, this spot light shined across the foliage beneath Ruby Peak. It made me feel a little better that I captured something after erasing everything I had worked so hard for before this. Lucky for me, when we got home, I was able to recover about half of the images I had deleted. Hoping I don't make that mistake again. Yes, I have 2 cards, but one is broken and I need to replace it.
