No Tricks, Just a Treat

Last light on the Citadel, Halloween eve.

Loveland Pass, Clear Creek Co. Colorado

Took an opportunity to go shoot sunset atop the Continental Divide a few weeks ago. After getting out of work early that day, I had an image in mind of Citadel Peak at sunset. When I arrived, there wasn't much happening in terms of cloud coverage. It was a cold evening, but the sun was shining and making things a little more bearable. I hiked up the east side of the pass a bit to set up for this shot. I wanted to capture the last bit of light hitting the peak before sunset. As the sun crept closer to the horizon, these beautiful clouds moved in and completed my composition perfectly. It got better and better and I was able to capture exactly what I had in mind when I set out for this shoot. We're off to a great start for winter in the high country. Hoping it continues and brings proper snowpack and good skiing the rest of the winter.
