Taiwan mist

One of the main reasons for visiting Alishan national scenic area is the view of sunrise over a sea of clouds. All resorts sponsor the event, so flocks of tourist hop on buses at night towards the mountain. This morning the phenomenon didn't repeat: the clouds were too dense and a pale sun was barely visible behind the haze.

Luckily, that is not the only attraction of the region. The cypress forest, populated by thousand years-old trees, is a majestic place. The fog adds mystery and, if you are a Twin Peaks fan, a bit of tension.

However, the silence is sometimes interrupted by weird creatures that wander on the walk paths. Some Taiwanese tourists carry a speaker strapped around the chest, so that everyone can appreciate the loud k-pop music. In order not to get too frustrated, one has to consider that as a local attraction, wait for them to move on and get back to the tranquility of the woods.
