What? What?
A night walk in the Borneo forest is an experience that awakens all senses.
The first reaction is a "greenhouse" feel. The humid and hot air is relieved only by brief tropical showers, but not enough to avoid excessive sweating. With it an intense forest scent, combination of moisture, soil and decaying vegetation.
It's pitch black at night, in a way I never experienced outdoor: clouds and thick woods cover any possible source of light. But switch on the headlamp, aim it to the forest, and you immediately realize you are not alone. The shining reflexes are the eyes of spiders, frogs and other creatures are looking back at you. A daunting but incredible sight.
Finally the sound, which leads to the topic of this picture. Among a majestic ensemble of chirps, hisses, squeaks, tweets, one voice stands out: the constant "What What" noise of millions of frogs like this guy here. And even if the beam of light didn't seem to bother him, I still managed to achieve something. I made him shut up for few minutes.
