Jupiter Ascending
I saw a planet through a telescope for the first time tonight. That was epic. If you've never done it, do it *as soon as possible*. I know now why Brian Cox has that huge grin on his face all the time. If you think I'm waxing lyrical and being a nerd, go look at one and tell me I'm wrong :-)
It was the first day since I've owned the 'scope that the sky wasn't covered in clouds. I looked at the star chart on my phone and saw that Jupiter should be visible. The compass is way off so it took a while to find, and damn do they move out of the finder quickly, but it was nicely visible with a few of the moons.
I tried to take a picture with the camera properly mounted (T-Ring) but I need to talk to Svenand Joe about focus travel 'coz that didn't work. I'm really pleased I got this one though because it shows you the image in more or less the way I saw it.
