Washington DC, The White House, July 20, 2024, Around 350 folks gathered here today to try to pursuade Joe Biden to do the right thing and suspend his doomed campaign for a second term. God help us if he soldiers on because that will almost certainly move Trump back into the White House and likely put the Senate as well as the House into MAGA hands.
Like many folks who vote Democratic I was willing to give Joe Biden the benefit of the doubt about his cognitive fitness to continue on as President until his disastrous debate performance on June 27. That was 'game over' for me and millions of other folks. Biden's circle of advisors have not served him, nor us, well, Given his obvious decline they should have fashioned a glide path out and prepared a worthy successor candidate or two to fight Trump and his MAGA hordes. There is much greatness* in Joe's term that will be lauded by historians, especially when compared to the dumpster fire that preceeded him.
*But not the slaughter in GAZA that he so unwisely enabled. Nothing but shame here.
P.S. Joe dropped out of the race the very next day.
