Stephen B Whatley on location in Wales. June 2013

Exhausted but exhlilerated, expressionist painter Stephen B Whatley photographed at around 7pm on June 21st, after almost 9 hours painting on location in N. Wales - with his painting of this beautiful Tudor house, dating from the 16th century.

This is one of two architectural paintings that have been commissioned from the artist by the owners of the properties steeped in inspiring history; inspired by his works for the Tower of London.

Stephen B Whatley was born in London in 1965 and has been a professional painter for 25 years. Working spontaneously on location has been a striking trademark of Stephen's work - and his many architectural commissions include paintings of Buckingham Palace for the Royal Collection, exteriors and interiors of landmark buildings for the BBC and - along with other city landmarks - 30 paintings for the Tower of London, all permanently reproduced throughout Tower Hill Underpass that leads to the Tower.

Oil on canvas,
